First on MNP: Cignal TV to launch new Filipino news channel One PH
The channel will cater to the “masang viewers,” with its programs centering around news, politics, public service and entertainment, all broadcasted in conversational Filipino.
Cignal TV, the direct-to-home satellite pay TV provider of MediaQuest Holdings Inc., is set to launch One PH, a new all-Filipino news channel.
As per our sources, the news channel, which obviously borrowed its brand name from Cignal TV’s One News, will have a soft launch on Monday, February 18, with an official launch a week later.
Similar to the already-established DZMM TeleRadyo and DZBB sa News TV, One PH will cater to the “masang viewers,” with its programs centering around news, politics, public service and entertainment, all broadcasted in conversational Filipino.
Like TeleRadyo, the news channel will also be carrying some of the programs already airing on TV5’s Radyo Singko, including the long-running Relasyon with Atty. Mel Sta. Maria.
Other big names joining One PH’s on-air team are The Chiefs host Ed Lingao, Jove Francisco, Patrick Paez, Lourd De Veyra and award-winning Reuters correspondent Manny Mogato. They are all set to co-host a primetime talk program airing at 9PM.
News5’s Cheryl Cosim will also be playing an important role on the news channel as anchor of its evening news and talk program, along with her former Aksyon Tonite co-anchor Jove Francisco.
Completing the lineup are News5 reporters Maricel Halili, Gerard dela Pena, Michelle Orosa, MJ Marfori, Laila Chikadora, veteran broadcaster Orly Mercado, and former Supreme Court spokesperson Ted Te.
The move to expand Cignal TV’s news properties comes almost a year after the launch of One News, the all-English news channel which houses programs like The Chiefs, Agenda with Cito Beltran and BusinessWorld Live.
One PH will be housed at TV5 Media Center in Reliance, Mandaluyong. It will available starting tomorrow at channel 6.
